The forum called for the immediate restoration and expansion of the natural lake located on the Sector 8 (Artist Village) hill in CBD Belapur, alongside constructing a new reservoir in the Green Valley area. The organization pointed out that massive volumes of monsoon rainwater currently run off into the sea unutilized. Highlighting recent water supply disruptions across the city, the forum emphasized that over-reliance on a single water source the Morbe Dam leaves Navi Mumbai vulnerable during maintenance or operational shocks.

To create a sustainable urban water model, Sajag Nagrik Manch urged NMMC to conduct scientific geological surveys to identify ideal locations for retention ponds. Beyond building infrastructure, the group advocated for policy measures, such as mandating rainwater harvesting and non-potable borewells for residential housing societies. They also recommended restricting the use of treated drinking water for non-essential activities like gardening and vehicle washing.

According to the forum, reviving these water bodies will boost groundwater recharge, lower localized flooding risks, strengthen climate resilience, and secure the city’s water future.
