Taloja’s over 950 firms experience a water supply shortage

Published

on

In Taloja MIDC, there have been 974 enterprises organised under the Taloja Industries Association (TIA) that have been complaining about a lack of water supply for the past three weeks. As a result, they have had to rely on water tankers to meet their daily water needs for industrial purposes. Many industries’ production has thus come to a halt, and they are now required to pay their idle workers. The industries claim that even though they pay MIDC monthly water fees, they do not receive the minimum quantity of water that was agreed upon.

According to TIA President Satish Shetty, “Water supplies for Taloja Industrial area is being diverted to new housing colonies under the jurisdiction of Panvel civic government and Cidco. This is despite adequate water at Barvi dam, which is meant for industrial usage. Additionally, the situation is so bad that even industries that require water for consumption and sanitation cannot access it. Many industries are compelled to provide their workers with filtered drinking water. According to Shetty, “the Industries are battling to acquire appropriate water supply even with the cooperation of state industries minister Uday Samant, who is due to visit Taloja MIDC soon. Our complaints to the MIDC authorities have been ignored.

Even if the industries of Maharashtra are fully supported by the chief minister Eknath Shinde, the deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, and the industries minister Uday Samant, things continue to be different on the ground. Who would want to invest in the state and establish up their enterprises here if the necessary infrastructure and basic facilities are not provided to the current industries? The state government’s industrial policies should encourage “ease of doing business,” and this can be done if the industries minister maintains regular contact with the state’s industrial associations.

” According to MIDC’s assistant engineer for special planning authorities and water supply, Avinash Gadhade, “The frequent power grid failure at Barvi dam has led to an erratic water supply to the companies in the Taloja MIDC area. However, not all 974 of Taloja MIDC’s industries are affected by the water shortage; only some are. The issue is gradually being fixed.

The Drive

In a major boost to public health, 1,292 citizens were screened during a free cancer detection drive conducted across various health centers by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC).

The initiative focused on early detection for common cancers including oral, breast, and cervical cancers giving local residents access to crucial preventive care close to home. Medical teams set up diagnostic stations at Urban Primary Health Centers (UPHCs) to ensure seamless access, particularly for working-class and middle-income families.

Beyond basic checkups, civic health teams provided guidance on early warning signs, lifestyle risks, and the importance of routine health monitoring. Citizens identified with potential symptoms received direct referrals to municipal hospitals for further testing and subsidized follow-up treatment.
