Taloja Federation To Organize Large-Scale Protest Against Severe Water Crisis on July 22
A Mass protest is said to be organised on July 22nd.
The Protest
Residents of Taloja Phases 1 and 2 have decided to stage a mass protest against the ongoing water crisis, which is scheduled for July 22 at Raigad Bhavan, CBD Belapur. The protest is being organized by the Taloja Federation, and it will be held under the slogan “No Turning Back Now.” The protest was originally scheduled for June 20, but Federation President Prasad Dhage Patil has informed us that unavoidable circumstances forced the postponement of the original date.
For the past 18 months, locals have been struggling with acute water shortages. The artificial water shortage has not improved despite the recent intense rainfall. Sector 2 resident Anurag Shrivastava pointed out that certain housing societies have been without water for the last five to six months, which has forced them to depend on pricey water tankers. Shrivastava pointed out that the cost of tankers increases with the size of the community; a society consisting of 41 units would spend over Rs 8,000–Rs 10,000 a week on them.
Seventy housing society members attended the meeting, voicing their support and outrage for the protest. Men and women have shown interest in participation from as many Taloja Phase 1 and 2 communities as feasible. President Patil said that in order to make sure the protest is successful, federation members and office-bearers would focus on increasing awareness over the next fifteen days.

Residents Raise Alarm Over Cigarette Sales to Students
Seawoods residents seek strict action against tobacco sales near educational institutions and public spaces.
The Cigarette Sales
Residents of Sector 25, Seawoods, Nerul, have raised concerns over students allegedly smoking in public places and the suspected sale of cigarettes to minors.
Following repeated complaints, the ward officer and local police conducted a raid at a paan shop on the ground floor of Ambika Heights on the night of September 11. Officials reportedly found cigarette cartons at the shop, but no other illegal intoxicating substances.
Residents said students, reportedly aged between 17 and 22, are frequently seen smoking near Seawoods railway station, the bridge and other public areas. They suspect that a local paan shop may be supplying cigarettes to college students. Prakash Yawalkar, president of the Seawoods Citizens Welfare Association, said students were openly smoking outside the shop, raising concerns among residents and parents.
The association has submitted complaints to the local police, Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, mayor, local representatives and the Drug Department. It has urged authorities to strictly enforce the law prohibiting tobacco sales to minors and increase monitoring around schools, colleges and other student gathering points.
Residents said stronger action is needed to prevent tobacco use among young people and ensure that public spaces remain safe and healthy.
