Shiv Sena supporters from both groups clashed in Thane and a FIR was filed

A fight broke out in Thane between supporters of the current chief minister, Eknath Shinde, and the previous chief minister, Uddhav Thackeray. The fight happened on the evening of November 14 and 15. After each side made accusations, a FIR was filed against both parties in thane.

Both sides’ supporters raced to Thane’s Shri Nagar police station after the fight to lodge complaints against one another. A few people are said to have attacked Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s supporters outside the police station, causing police to use lathi charges to scatter them.

Social media is flooded with videos of the brawl between the two groups. In the video, individuals can be seen scurrying to avoid being struck by the police lathicharge as police officials attempt to manage the throng among the pandemonium.

It is noteworthy that this took place soon after Gajanan Kirtikar, a prominent figure in the Shiv Sena group commanded by Uddhav, joined the Balasahebanchi Shiv Sena in the presence of Chief Minister Shinde.

Eknath Shinde and 39 other Sena MLAs rebelled against the party leadership in June of this year, leading to the fall of the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi administration. Devendra Fadnavis of the BJP served as Shinde’s deputy during the swearing-in ceremony on June 30.

Months after the split, the Election Commission of India gave the Eknath Shinde side two swords and a shield as their electoral emblem, while the Uddhav Thackeray camp received Mashaal.

Uddhav Thackeray has resisted Shinde for forging a “unnatural coalition” with Congress and the NCP. When more than 40 of the Shiv Sena’s 55 MLAs sided with Shinde, Thackeray was compelled to step down from his position as Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Twelve of the Shiv Sena’s 18 Lok Sabha MPs backed Shinde as well.
