PMC’s Campaign for Property Tax Revision Gets a Massive Response
On the first two days of its campaign on property tax revision, the property tax department of Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) got an overwhelmingly positive reaction. On July 28, the campaign will come to a conclusion. It started on July 24.
In just three days, 337 residents have reportedly profited from this initiative, according to PMC’s Property Tax Department. Ganesh Deshmukh, the municipal commissioner, has urged the people in the municipal sector to benefit from this programme.
In just two days, 163 property owners have filed written complaints
A total of 51 property owners filed written complaints on the first day of the campaign, and 111 more did so on the second. Under the direction of Deputy Commissioner Ganesh Shete, the head of the Property Tax Department Sunil Bhoir, clerk Mahesh Gaikwad, and other officials immediately answered the concerns after confirming the applications submitted.
Property owners should file objection applications under this campaign if there is any inaccuracy in the measurement of the outside look of the property, if there is a difference in how it is used, or if there is taxation on lease while ownership. Similar to this, Section 129A is used to tax properties in gramme panchayat areas. If the owner of the land has any objections, these should be made in writing.
Additionally, property owners can submit their objection application to the municipality if they have any concerns about the completion certificate, occupancy certificate, tax levy from the date of use, unauthorised penalty levy, registration of name in primary taxation, or correction thereof.
Property owners should file their objection application under this campaign in case of taxation of untaxed properties in order to reconcile revenues paid during gramme panchayat, make small corrections to tax assessment, or make corrections to the initial taxation. Grandmothers and former service members who own property should take advantage of this initiative if they desire a reduction in their property tax payment.
The Adya Kranti veer Vasudev Balwant Phadke Theatre is accepting documentation and objection forms from property owners between the hours of 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. on July 28. Under the property tax re-inspection campaign, dedicated teams will make changes to the bill at the location. Immediately following taking into account the property owners’ objections, the team members involved make modifications to the bill.

Gold Chains Worth ₹10.5 Lakh Stolen at Rolling Loud India; Four Attendees File Complaints
A series of thefts marred the two-day Rolling Loud India music festival held in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, after four attendees reported that their gold chains—collectively valued at Rs 10.50 lakh—were stolen amid the massive crowd. The incidents occurred on Sunday evening, between 6 pm and 10 pm, during peak performances when thousands of fans had gathered near the stages.
According to police officials, the victims stated that their chains were forcibly pulled off their necks in the dense crowd without their notice. All four individuals have lodged formal complaints at the Kharghar Police Station, prompting authorities to begin an investigation. Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage, analyzing crowd movement, and checking for known pickpocket groups that typically target large gatherings.
The thefts have raised concerns about the security arrangements at the international festival, which saw heavy footfall throughout the weekend. This is not the first time such incidents have been reported at major concerts in the Mumbai region, with similar cases emerging during previous large-scale events.
Besides the thefts, attendees took to social media to express dissatisfaction over event logistics, particularly the significant distance between the two main stages, which made moving between performances difficult amid the crowd.
The police have assured attendees that efforts are underway to identify the culprits and recover the stolen jewellery. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
