Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the news in a tweet, saying that this was a historic day for India. PM Modi praised India’s massive vaccination campaign, calling it the world’s largest so far. He urged people of all ages to get completely vaccinated.

PM Modi declared on Twitter that children aged 12 to 14 will be able to get vaccinated starting today. He also stated that anyone over the age of 60 is now eligible for an additional preventative dose. PM Modi lauded India’s immunisation push as a success in a lengthy tweet, praising scientists, innovators, and healthcare personnel for their contributions to the vaccination drive’s milestones.

“Today marks a significant milestone in India’s vaccination campaign. Vaccines are now available to children aged 12-14, and prophylactic doses are available to everyone over 60. PM Modi tweeted, “I strongly encourage individuals in these age categories to be vaccinated.” “Science underpins India’s world-leading vaccination campaign. We started developing vaccinations in early 2020 to safeguard our folks and enhance our fight against the pandemic,” he added, highlighting the vaccine drive’s trajectory.

PM Modi reveals the timeline of the world’s most effective’ immunisation campaign.

PM Modi also provided a timeline of the most-successful immunisation campaign. “It is commendable how our scientists, innovators, and corporate sector responded to the situation. “I visited three of our vaccine factories in late 2020 and saw first hand about their efforts to protect our citizens,” PM Modi stated in a tweet.

The vaccination effort for doctors, healthcare workers, and frontline workers began in January 2021, according to the PM, ensuring sufficient protection for those at the front lines of the war as soon as possible. “Vaccination was made available to adults over 60 and those over 45 with comorbidities in March 2021. After then, everyone over the age of 18 was able to get vaccinated. The fact that immunizations are free for those who want them should make every Indian proud,” Prime Minister Modi stated. So far, India has administered around 180 crore vaccination doses.

The Prime Minister went on to say that India has so far administered over 180 crore doses, with over 9 crore doses in the 15-17 age group and over 2 crore prophylactic doses. PM Modi also praised the citizens, saying that unlike in other countries, where vaccine reluctance is common, people in India are willing to get vaccinated. The Prime Minister also took the opportunity to thank state governments for their contributions to India’s vaccination campaign.

PM Modi also highlighted the effectiveness of India’s Vaccine Maitri programme, which aided the worldwide pandemic response.

“Under the Vaccine Maitri programme, we supplied vaccines to numerous countries, in keeping with India’s idea of caring for the entire earth.” “I am pleased that India’s vaccine efforts have strengthened the worldwide fight against COVID-19,” the PM wrote in his tweet.

“Today, India has a large number of vaccinations that are ‘Made in India.’ Other vaccinations have also received approval following a thorough review. PM Modi concluded his long line of tweets regarding the country’s vaccination drive by saying, “We are in a much better position to tackle this deadly virus.” He also stressed that the epidemic was far from ended and that people should continue to take all COVID-related precautions.

For children, there is a COVID vaccine.

Children between the ages of 12 and 14 are now eligible for vaccinations, which is another step toward India’s aim of universal vaccination. The health ministry made the statement after the government approved the Corbevax vaccine produced by Biological E. Limited. The Corbevax vaccine, which was developed by the Hyderabad-based firm in partnership with the Texas Children’s Hospital Centre for Vaccine Development and Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, was approved for vaccination of children aged 12 to 14 in February. It had been granted authorization to launch in the country in December 2021.

It’s worth noting that the children aged 15 to 18 were given dosages of Covaxin made by Bharat Biotech. The Union Government decided to allow younger children to receive immunizations following “proper deliberation” with scientific bodies, according to the statement. As of Tuesday, more than 9 crore persons in the 15-17 age range had been vaccinated.

MNS Demands Strict Enforcement of School Bus Policy After Seawoods Assault Case

Published

on

The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has called for immediate and strict implementation of the School Bus Policy 2011 across all schools in Navi Mumbai, following the alleged sexual assault of a 4-year-old student by a school bus driver at a reputed school in Seawoods.

In a meeting with the Sub-Regional Transport Officer, an MNS delegation, led by city president Gajanan Kale and student wing leader Sandesh Dongre, accused private schools of negligence and ignoring state-mandated transport safety norms. The party cited widespread regulatory lapses that continue to endanger student safety.

According to the School Bus Policy 2011, every school must form a transport committee that includes the principal, parent representatives, traffic and police officials, education department representatives, and bus contractors. This committee is responsible for verifying essential documents like vehicle registration, fitness certificates, permits, insurance, PUCs, and ensuring safety measures such as fire extinguishers and first-aid kits in every school transport vehicle.

The MNS also demanded a strict ban on unauthorized vehicles like private autos and taxis from operating within 100 meters of school gates. They stressed that school principals must be held directly accountable for the safety of all students using school-provided transport.

“If immediate action is not taken, the MNS will launch protests in its signature style,” warned the party. In response, Transport Officer Datta Sangolkar assured the delegation that school bus inspections will commence without delay.

Navi Mumbai Police have treated the threats as serious hoaxes meant to spread fear and disrupt public order. An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deal with public mischief and causing alarm.

Investigators have already traced the phone numbers used to make the threatening calls and are working to identify and locate the individuals responsible. While no arrests have been made yet, the police have confirmed that a detailed probe is underway.

Authorities have assured the public that all safety protocols were followed and that air travel operations were not significantly affected.
