Navi Mumbai, New Government’: Shiv Sena (Shinde) Unveils Campaign Slogan Ahead of Civic Polls

Published

on

The Shiv Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has launched its campaign for the upcoming Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation elections with a new slogan — “Navi Mumbai, New Government.” The tagline signals the party’s intent to project itself as a fresh and decisive alternative in the civic body, setting the tone for an aggressive and independent electoral push.

The campaign has already generated political discussion, particularly due to emerging tensions between the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) and its alliance partner, the BJP, at the local level. Despite their broader state-level partnership, reports suggest dissatisfaction among BJP workers in Navi Mumbai over candidate selection. Several BJP aspirants with long-standing party affiliations are said to have been overlooked, leading to unrest among senior leaders and grassroots workers.

Sources indicate that the Shinde-led Shiv Sena is keen on contesting the civic polls with a strong independent identity in Navi Mumbai. While alliance talks were held earlier, the party has now chosen to emphasize a united fight under its own banner, highlighting governance, development and stability as key themes.

The campaign has also drawn attention due to the inclusion of candidates linked to the Sangh Parivar, with party leaders claiming support from RSS-associated workers. This move is being closely watched by political observers, who see it as an attempt to consolidate organizational strength at the booth level.

With the slogan “Navi Mumbai, New Government,” the Shiv Sena (Shinde) aims to appeal to voters seeking change in civic administration, as the battle for control of the municipal corporation intensifies in the run-up to elections.

The Storage

In a major relief for Navi Mumbai residents, water levels at the Morbe Dam the primary drinking water source for the region have reached 75.66% of its total capacity, following consistent monsoon showers across its catchment area in Khalapur.

Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) officials confirmed that the rising water levels significantly reduce concerns over potential water cuts or supply disruptions in the coming months. The steady inflow has ensured a secure drinking water buffer for over 15 lakh residents across the city.

While the current stock is sufficient to meet daily demand well into early next year, civic engineers noted that sustained heavy downpours are still required for the reservoir to hit 100% capacity and overflow. NMMC continues to monitor catchment rainfall closely to optimize seasonal storage reserves.
