MNS Urges Seawoods Schools to Oppose Mandatory Hindi Policy

Published

The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has stepped up its opposition to the state government’s recent directive mandating the teaching of Hindi as a third language from Grade 1. In a proactive move, MNS representatives visited several schools in Seawoods, urging them to formally register their objections.

The delegation visited Podar International School, DAV Public School, S.S. High School, and Don Bosco School, where they met with principals and delivered a letter from MNS Chief Raj Thackeray. The letter strongly opposes the state’s policy and appeals to school authorities to officially communicate their dissent to the education department.

During the meetings, MNS members expressed concerns that introducing three languages at the primary level could place undue academic pressure on young students, potentially affecting their cognitive development. They further argued that such early multi-language teaching is uncommon in other Indian states and in several developed countries, where typically only one or two languages are taught at the primary stage.

Some school principals reportedly shared their discomfort with the policy but also voiced fears about potential repercussions if they openly defied the government order.

The MNS has consistently opposed what it sees as impositions that add to the academic burden of children, and this latest campaign seeks to rally school authorities to push back against the directive. The party emphasized that the welfare of students should take priority over political mandates. Further developments on the schools’ responses are awaited.
