Delay In Majiwada Overbridge Repair Causes Chaos In Traffic

Published

on

On Wednesday, hours of traffic jams caused by major delays in Majiwada Overbridge repair work caused inconvenience to commuters in Thane and irritated both residents and drivers from outside the city.

The repairs were supposed to be finished between April 16 and 17, but obstacles caused the closure to go far into the afternoon. This unanticipated delay made Majiwada’s already renowned traffic problems worse by causing extreme gridlock.

Since the continuing repair work blocked traffic from Ghodbunder to JNPT, Nashik, and Mumbai, the authorities had to stop the bridge climb in front of the Broadway Petrol Pump. Drivers were thus compelled to look for alternate routes, which increased the pandemonium on the highways.

The closure continued on Wednesday till 1 pm, despite efforts to reroute traffic via the slip lane in front of Majiwada Petrol Pump and Kapurbavadi Circle, making commuters’ problems with traffic more worse.

Although the Public Works Department (PWD) finished the bridge repairs by 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, the drying time of the poured cement caused an extra one to two hours of delay. As a result, the situation got worse as lengthy lines of cars extended from Ghodbunder to Thane and Mumbai, as well as from Kapurbavdi to Patlipad and the Mumbai-Nashik route to Dhokali Highland.
