Kashi-Tamil Sangaman which PM Modi inaugurates and describes as a celebration of Indias many cultures
The Kashi Tamil Sangamam was inaugurated on Saturday in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The one-month-long event will highlight, confirm, and rediscover the long-standing ties between Varanasi and Tamil Nadu.
According to the Prime Minister, the union known as Kashi-Tamil Sangaman is unusual and a celebration of India’s diversity. “Sangam, the Sangam of rivers, information, and thinking, is extremely important to our nation. The many cultures of India are honoured throughout this Sangamam “Mr. Modi added.
Speaking to the crowd, he compared the Kashi Tamil Sangamam to the confluence of the holy Yamuna and Ganga rivers. “While Kashi is India’s spiritual and cultural centre, Tamil Nadu has the country’s longest recorded history. India is proud of it, he continued.
“The eternal centres of culture and civilization are Kasi and Tamil Nadu. Sanskrit and Tamil are the two oldest languages still spoken today, according to the prime minister.
The meeting, according to PM Modi, takes place as India enters “Amrit Kaal,” the decade leading up to its 100th anniversary of independence in 2047. “India is a nation that has practised cultural oneness for the past 1,000 years.”
Kashi’s growth was significantly influenced by Tamil Nadu
The growth of Kashi, he said, was greatly influenced by Tamil Nadu. As the Vice-Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan of Tamil Nadu made a significant contribution, Modi said.
“Music, literature, and artwork can be found in both Kashi and Tamil Nadu. The Thannumai of Tamil Nadu and the tabla of Kashi are well known. Banarasi sarees, which are well-known worldwide, can be found in Kashi, and kanjivaram silk can be found in Tamil Nadu “declared PM Modi.
Prime Minister Modi emphasised “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” when launching the “Kashi Tamil Sangaman” initiative (One India, Great India). He also lauded Southern academics for their insightful analyses of the nation.
“We should not engage in linguistic argument”
Also on subject of linguistic disputes, the PM advised against them. He said that it is our duty to make Tamil stronger. “If we neglect to show respect for the Tamil language, India would suffer. We shouldn’t become involved in a linguistic argument.” He emphasised that “it is the common duty of 130 crore Indians to maintain the rich Tamil heritage.”
In order to participate in seminars and network with locals who share their interests, trades, and professions, more than 2,500 delegates from Tamil Nadu will go to Varanasi. People from many areas of life will get the chance to contribute their expertise, culture, and best practises at the event.

Early Tuesday morning, train services at Nerul station in Navi Mumbai faced severe disruptions due to a malfunction with the Overhead Equipment (OHE) on a local train. This incident caused significant delays for commuters travelling between Vashi, Panvel, and Thane, impacting thousands of passengers who rely on this crucial railway link.
The problems began at approximately 04:55 AM when the OHE, an essential component that powers the electric trains, failed in one of the carriages. This malfunction halted all up-and-down train movements, creating a ripple effect on the punctuality and scheduling of services across the affected routes.
According to the Mumbai Central Divisional Railway Manager, the disruption resulted in a complete standstill of train operations between Vashi and Panvel.
