Two days after he physically assaulted a moviegoer and prevented the screening of the Marathi film “Har Har Mahadev,” Jitendra Awhad, the head of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), received a warning from Thane police on Wednesday.

Awhad and 12 other party employees received the notification in accordance with Section 141 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CRPC). Additionally, he has been told to appear before the Vartak Nagar police and provide a statement.

BJP leader Ram Kadam stated, in an exclusive interview with Reporters on TV: “The Maharashtra government is operating transparently and making delivering justice to everyone a top priority under the direction of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Therefore, whatever occurred in Thane during the screening of “Har Har Mahadev” was completely unacceptable because nobody has the authority to impose their own laws “.

“Our administration is really strict. All persons responsible have already been the subject of a police FIR, and they will undoubtedly be contacted for an interview. We’ll look into this issue in depth. And incarcerating them as quickly as possible will be our top priority ” he added.

Awhad and his men attack moviegoers.

Jitendra Awhad, a former Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) minister, is accused of leading protesters who forcibly stopped the screening of the Marathi film “Har Har Mahadev” at a multiplex in Thane on Monday. The protesters claim that the film gives an inaccurate history of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

In addition to stopping the movie and harassing the audience, causing them to leave the theatre, Jitendra Awhad and his supporters also severely beat a person who tried to stand in their way. The footage shows the NCP leader’s followers ganging up on one man and severely beating him, tearing off his shirt in the process.

The NCP neta was seen attempting to contain the damage in the popular video. He apparently tried to give the assaulted man some cash. The victim of the shirt-ripping said to Awhad, “I won’t take it. “The film is not the main topic. After two years, I returned to see the film “adding, the victim. But before he could continue, the former cabinet minister put a finger to his lips and commanded him to “be silent.”

A complaint has since been filed against Awhad and his followers for obstructing the movie’s showing by force. Sections 141, 143, 146, 149, 323, 504 of the IPC and section 37/135 of the Bombay Police Act are being used by Thane Police to prosecute this case.

Navi Mumbai Civic Polls Heat Up as Ganesh Naik and Shinde Sena Clash Over Governance

Published

on

As the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation elections approach, the city’s political atmosphere has turned sharply confrontational, with rival leaders exchanging strong allegations. Veteran BJP leader Ganesh Naik, speaking at public events alongside Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, openly challenged opponents from the Shinde faction of Shiv Sena, asserting his influence and warning rivals not to underestimate his political reach. His statements, laced with personal jibes, have heightened tensions in the lead-up to polling.

In retaliation, leaders of the Shinde Sena accused Naik of perpetuating dynastic politics and long-term control that they claim has stalled Navi Mumbai’s development. Party figures, including MP Naresh Mhaske, emphasized that their participation in the elections seeks to offer voters an alternative and to challenge entrenched political dominance.

The conflict has widened beyond personal rivalries. Members of the Shiv Sena (Thackeray)–MNS alliance have also entered the fray, alleging mismanagement of civic resources and instances of tender-related corruption under both Naik and Shinde Sena leaders. They promised to raise grievances with higher authorities if elected, highlighting governance and transparency as central issues in their campaign.

Observers note that while civic development and local issues remain important, the discourse in the final days of campaigning has shifted toward a battle of narratives and counter-accusations, reflecting the high stakes for all parties involved. As polling day nears, Navi Mumbai voters are witnessing a political contest dominated by rivalry, accountability claims, and attempts to sway public perception through aggressive rhetoric.

Shiv Sena (UBT) Leader Prakash Patil Appeals to Agri Community in Navi Mumbai

Shiv Sena (UBT) district president Prakash Patil addressed residents of Navi Mumbai in the local Agri language, aiming to strengthen the party’s connection with the community ahead of the upcoming civic elections. Speaking to a gathering of supporters, Patil highlighted long-standing grievances regarding underdevelopment and alleged neglect of the area by successive political leaders.

Patil questioned why development projects catering to village residents had been overlooked for the past 15 years, despite political parties, including the NCP and BJP, holding power in the region. He accused influential local leaders, including Forest Minister Ganesh Naik, of ignoring the needs of the Agri community, which forms a vital part of the region’s social fabric.

Recalling the legacy of Loknete D.B. Patil, he asked whether any current leaders had recognized his efforts for the community. Emphasizing the Shiv Sena (UBT)’s inclusive approach, Patil noted that the party’s manifesto highlights the welfare of diverse groups, including the Agri, Koli, and Muslim communities.

He also addressed internal alliance dynamics, acknowledging that disagreements exist but attributing them to political opponents attempting to create divisions ahead of elections. Patil urged citizens to focus on local development and community welfare, rather than being swayed by such disruptions.

The address underscores Shiv Sena (UBT)’s strategy to engage directly with the Agri community using their native language, emphasizing local issues and promises of inclusive development. With civic polls approaching, the party aims to consolidate support among traditional voter bases while highlighting perceived neglect by rival parties.

Senior BJP leader recalls 2014 support, says trust and respect matter beyond electoral opportunities.

The Recall

Senior BJP leader and former MLA Manda Mhatre made an emotional public statement in Airoli, reflecting on her long-standing association with the party and her close bond with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, amid discussions over ticket allocation ahead of the Navi Mumbai civic elections.

Addressing party workers and supporters, Mhatre referred to a viral photograph showing her holding hands with Fadnavis during a recent event. Clarifying its significance, she said the gesture symbolized mutual trust, respect and emotional support rather than political messaging. She described Fadnavis as a leader who has consistently stood by her during difficult phases of her political career.

Recalling the 2014 Assembly elections, Mhatre said that when many leaders were opposed to her candidature, it was Fadnavis who firmly backed her and ensured she received the BJP ticket. “At a time when I stood alone, he trusted me and gave me an opportunity,” she said, adding that his faith played a crucial role in shaping her political journey.

Mhatre also addressed the fact that she did not receive a ticket on this occasion. Despite this, she emphasized that her relationship with the party leadership remains strong. She stated that Fadnavis continues to guide and support her work, and that political positions do not define personal respect or loyalty.

Comparing their relationship to that of a mother and son, Mhatre said emotional bonds and commitment to ideology are more important than individual posts. She reaffirmed her dedication to the BJP and appealed to party workers to remain united and focused on organizational strength as elections approach.
