Police teams head to Karnataka to track down Dumper Driver who killed 12-Year-Old in CBD Sector-8.

The Driver

To identify the dumper driver who struck a 12-year-old boy’s bicycle on Wednesday and instantly killed him, two teams of the CBD Belapur police have traveled for Karnataka. Ramlingappa Nimbale (22) has been identified as the driver. In his pursuit, teams have been to Gulberga and Bangalore.

According to the locals of Belapur’s sector 8, where the tragedy occurred, huge vehicles shouldn’t go on internal roads since they are quite tiny.

Police claim that the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) was in charge of the road’s yearly upkeep and had awarded the contract to a third party. “We will also book the contractor if we find him to be at fault during the investigation,” a police official from the CBD Belapur police station stated.

Shivam Krishna Bhatt, a 12-year-old child, was struck by a dumper that was approaching from the front as he was leaving tuition courses. The youngster attended People’s Education Society School in CBD in the sixth grade and lived in the Ishan Building in Artist Village, CBD Sector-8.

He had gone to Sector-4 on Wednesday morning at approximately ten a.m. for his regular tuition class. He was on his way to his house in sector 8 after completing his instruction. He was struck by a speeding dumper that had come to Sector-8B to fix the roads as he got close to Nanesh Hospital. Because it was an interior road with less traffic, he traveled the same path as usual.

Seawoods residents seek strict action against tobacco sales near educational institutions and public spaces.

The Cigarette Sales

Residents of Sector 25, Seawoods, Nerul, have raised concerns over students allegedly smoking in public places and the suspected sale of cigarettes to minors.

Following repeated complaints, the ward officer and local police conducted a raid at a paan shop on the ground floor of Ambika Heights on the night of September 11. Officials reportedly found cigarette cartons at the shop, but no other illegal intoxicating substances.

Residents said students, reportedly aged between 17 and 22, are frequently seen smoking near Seawoods railway station, the bridge and other public areas. They suspect that a local paan shop may be supplying cigarettes to college students. Prakash Yawalkar, president of the Seawoods Citizens Welfare Association, said students were openly smoking outside the shop, raising concerns among residents and parents.

The association has submitted complaints to the local police, Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, mayor, local representatives and the Drug Department. It has urged authorities to strictly enforce the law prohibiting tobacco sales to minors and increase monitoring around schools, colleges and other student gathering points.

Residents said stronger action is needed to prevent tobacco use among young people and ensure that public spaces remain safe and healthy.
