England’s interim head coach for the West Indies Test series has been named Paul Collingwood
Former all-rounder Paul Collingwood has been appointed as England’s interim head coach for the West Indies Test series, which begins March 8 at Antigua. The news comes just days after head coach Chris Silverwood was fired and batting coach Graham Thorpe was fired.
Collingwood, who assumed over as captain of England’s T20 tour of the West Indies last month, is presently on vacation in Barbados before re-joining the trip in Antigua on February 25, according to the ECB.
Since being crushed 0-4 in the Ashes in Australia last year, England’s cricket team has seen heads roll. Silverwood and Thorpe were removed after Director of Cricket Ashley Giles were fired.
Captain Joe Root, on the other hand, has retained his position as England’s men’s cricket captain and is expected to lead the squad in the three-match series against the West Indies.
COLLINGWOOD’S CHANCE TO RESET AND REBUILD
“I’m looking forward to guiding the Test squad on their Caribbean tour. I’m excited to get started, “Collingwood expressed his thoughts.
“Having a difficult Test series against the West Indies so soon after the Ashes disappointment provides us a chance to reset and rebuild.”
Test match appearances for England are the highest honour in the sport. My goal is to provide gamers with clarity, direction, and encouragement to begin creating something unique.
“I’ve spoken with Joe Root and Ben Stokes, both of which are eager to lead the squad ahead in this new cycle. Even though they realise it won’t be easy, they have the ambition and courage to do things differently to assure the team’s success. “We have a chance to go back on track,” they say.
The England squad will be released later this week, with the team departing the UK on Thursday, February 24th, according to the ECB.

At Sanpada, NMMC will construct a 50-meter shooting range
The city of Navi Mumbai will soon have a 50-meter shooting lane for use by both beginners and pros during practise and training sessions. The municipal corporation is currently building a cutting-edge archery facility in Sector 10 of Sanpada after creating a multisport complex underneath the Sanpada flypast that went popular on social media.
This Olympic sport is also performed at the district level with a lot of passion, with the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation serving as the venue. The engineering department has already given its preliminary clearance for a project that will cost 92 lakh, and the tendering procedure has already begun.
“This activity has a lot of enthusiasm, and even at the district school level events, we have over 50 or so competitors. Since India consistently wins the best honours at the Olympics and the Commonwealth Games, such high-quality facilities may open the door for more gifted archers, according to NMMC’s Sports Officer R Gurav.
The D.V. Patil Master Ground in Sector 10 of Sanpada has been chosen as the location for building the substructure, and it measures 1,500 square feet. On the property, shooting facilities would be constructed both inside and outside.
There are intentions to build a 30-m indoor shooting lane that can be used during monsoons, as well as a 50-m external shooting range, as far as civic construction is concerned. The facility should be available in eight months after the finalisation of the tender offers, according to executive engineer Sanjay E. Patil, who also completed the preliminary map work. Fifty bows and arrows will be available for practise in the building.
Currently, in order to practise the sport, archery players must either enrol in individual lessons or journey outside of the metropolis. We are confident that the facility’s expansion will increase enthusiasm in the sport, said Rajendra Narvekar, the municipal commissioner.

Ricky Ponting forecasts a very bright future for three Indian cricketers
During his interview with former England player Isha Guha on ‘The ICC Review,’ Australian cricket star Ricky Ponting highlighted three young Indian cricketers and made bold predictions about them. Following his retirement from international cricket as a player, Ponting has become a familiar face in the Indian Premier League (IPL), coaching teams such as the Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals. Ponting, who has been watching the growth of several young Indian cricket prospects from afar, has picked openers Prithvi Shaw and Ruturaj Gaikwad, as well as bowler Avesh Khan, as the players to watch.
Prithvi Shaw, who plays for the Delhi Capitals (DC) and is coached by Ponting, has been retained by the franchise ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. “Everyone’s known a bit about him over the last few of years,” Ponting added, according to ICC, recalling Shaw’s great form in the IPL 2021 season. I believe he is still learning a lot about himself as a person and as a player. To be completely honest, I don’t think I’ve seen much better.” Shaw does not want to bat a lot when he is hitting a lot, but when he is batting well, he wants to bat all the time, according to Ponting.
Ruturaj Gaikwad, according to Ponting, will represent India in all three formats.
Ponting also said that after having a chance early in the season, he ended up being a part of the IPL winning team, praising Chennai Super Kings player Ruturaj Gaikwad. “Everyone thought he was a nice player, more of a technically correct sort of player, but by the end of the IPL, he was doing some wonderful things,” Ponting added, before predicting that Gaikwad will play for India in all three forms in the future.
Meanwhile, Ponting talked about Avesh Khan, an uncapped Indian cricketer who came second in the IPL 2021 in terms of wickets taken.
“Last year, we had Avesh Khan at Delhi Capitals, who had an unbelievable IPL season.” On The ICC Review, Ponting stated, “He has been included in a few of Indian selections.”
