CM Shinde Has Ordered Immediate Help For The Victims Of The Belapur Building Collapse

Immediate relief measures ordered by CM Eknath Shinde for Belapur building collapse victims.

The Relief

The Commissioner of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC), in charge of the bottom floor G+4 storey building Indira Niwas in Shahbaaz Village, Sector 19, Belapur, has been directed by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to offer emergency aid to the victims of the building collapse. The catastrophe happened on Saturday at approximately 4:30 in the morning, and the Chief Minister had to act quickly.

Chief Minister Shinde had time to speak over the phone with NMMC Commissioner Kailas Shinde, despite being in Delhi for the NITI Aayog conference. He was informed about the specifics of the building catastrophe and reminded of the urgency of taking immediate action.

The administration has already started rescue efforts after the fall. Additionally, the Chief Minister has ordered that the victims get emergency care, medical attention, food and drink, clothes, temporary housing, and all other required services right away.

The goal of our prompt action is to guarantee that everyone impacted gets the assistance they require at this trying period.

Rescue activities were started as soon as the fire crew from the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation arrived at the scene of the tragedy. A team from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde were also on hand to support the rescue operations.

The structure that fell had 17 apartments and three stores. Thirteen children and 37 adults made it out of the building unharmed. The displaced residents can get food and shelter in the local Shelter Center, provided by the local authority. Regretfully, the tragedy claimed the life of one of the rescued individuals.

Navi Mumbai Police Arrest African National With Rs 1 Crore Worth Of Cocaine In Ulwe

The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of Navi Mumbai Police arrested Jeorge Ocante DaSilva, a 35-year-old native of Guinea, on Monday for possessing 410 grams of cocaine, allegedly intended for illegal sale. Acting on a tip-off, API Alka Patil of the AHTU led a raid at RM Heights Building in Ulwe, where DaSilva was found in possession of the narcotics.

Around 2:30 p.m. on October 28, officers discovered 410 grams of cocaine, valued at approximately Rs 1,02,50,000, hidden in DaSilva’s bedroom. Authorities also seized a mobile phone, a black Tabata weighing scale, scissors, plastic packaging bags, and a sky bag, bringing the total seizure value to Rs 1,02,55,610.

An FIR was filed at Panvel City Police Station under Sections 8(a) and 21(a) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Dasilva was presented in court and remanded to police custody until October 31, 2024. Investigations are ongoing, with the Crime Branch seeking potential accomplices and sources of the narcotics. Notably, Dasilva has a prior NDPS case registered at Nahar Police Station in Mumbai.
