Over 1 crore commuters have travelled on CIDCO Metro Line 1 in less than two years.

The Metro Line

Navi Mumbai’s CIDCO Metro Line 1, connecting Belapur to Pendhar, has marked a major milestone by transporting over 1 crore commuters since its inauguration on November 17, 2023. The achievement, in less than two years, underscores the metro’s growing popularity as a fast, reliable, and comfortable mode of travel for city residents.

The 11.1-km metro corridor links crucial residential and industrial areas such as CBD Belapur, Taloja MIDC, Kharghar, and Taloja housing complexes, providing seamless connectivity while easing road congestion. For many commuters, the metro has significantly reduced travel time, offering a smoother alternative to road transport.

To further enhance service efficiency, CIDCO has revised the timetable. Trains now run every 10 minutes during peak hours and every 15 minutes during non-peak hours in both directions, ensuring minimal wait times and better crowd management.

Additionally, passenger-friendly fare reductions have played a key role in boosting ridership. The ticket range has been revised to a minimum of Rs 10 and a maximum of Rs 30, making metro travel both affordable and attractive for daily commuters.

The combination of improved frequency, reduced fares, and extensive connectivity has helped the metro rapidly become a preferred mode of transport in Navi Mumbai. With ridership crossing the 1-crore mark, CIDCO Metro Line 1 continues to strengthen its role in shaping the city’s urban mobility and easing traffic pressure on key routes.
