Bhoomi Puja Was Performed At The New Storm Water Pumping Center By The NMMC Chief
NMMC Commissioner Dr Kailas Shinde performed the bhumi Pujan of new Storm water pumping center in Navi Mumbai.
The Center
The Bhoomi puja for a new storm water pumping center in Sector 12, CBD Belapur, was performed on Tuesday, July 23. This was a key step towards alleviating waterlogging difficulties in the region. The existing, decaying 40-year-old building, which was previously under CIDCO ownership and was beset by issues with build-up and insufficient water management, will be replaced by this new facility.
Dr. Kailas Shinde, the municipal commissioner for Navi Mumbai, emphasized the significance of the recently constructed storm water pumping station in reducing water accumulation during the rainy season. He was optimistic that the new facility, which has state-of-the-art pumping equipment, will solve problems for Belapur people who live in low-lying regions. The Commissioner also expressed gratitude to MLA Mandatai Mhatre for his invaluable assistance in moving the project forward.
Numerous dignitaries, including MLA Manda Mhatre, Deputy Commissioner Somnath Potre, Additional Commissioner and City Engineer Shirish Aardwad, and other local authorities and former corporations, attended the ground-breaking event. The original 14-month schedule has been lowered to 12 months for the completion of the new center.
Dr. Shinde observed that silt build-up and mangrove development had decreased the previous storm water pumping center’s ability to store water. This has made waterlogging problems worse during periods of intense rainfall, especially in places that are below the sea’s tide line. According to the Municipal Corporation’s inspection, maintaining the holding pond’s cleanliness was essential for efficient water management.
On behalf of the people of Belapur, MLA Mandat Mhatre expressed pleasure and joy, highlighting the benefits of the new facility in terms of reducing water build-up in sectors 4, 5, and 6 of the CBD Belapur. Mhatre emphasized his personal participation and follow-up actions to guarantee that the waterlogging problems are adequately addressed by the new facility.
The Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) officials have granted the project the required No Objection Certificate (NOC), paving the way for the destruction of the existing building and the construction of the new water collection center.
