At Lata Mangeshkar’s funeral, SRK made a dua and blew air
Jaane wale le Jae meri duayein Pardes This wonderful song was written by legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar for the Dilip Kumar and Nargis film ‘Deedar.’ When a loved one leaf, the song expresses the feeling of separation. As he watched his Lata Didi embark on her final trip, actor Shah Rukh must have felt the same way.
On the evening of February 6, Mumbai’s Shivaji Park was packed with dignitaries and ordinary people. Everyone lowered their heads in reverence, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. They were saying their goodbyes and having the final darshan of everyone’s favourite Lata Didi.
Shah Rukh Khan raised his hands in dua as he approached the final salaam. He blew air while removing his mask and praying for Lata Didi’s soul to rest in peace. To convey his love and respect, he caressed her feet and folded his hands.

Some speculated that SRK spit when he was blowing air out of his mouth, which sparked a debate. What did Shah Rukh Khan do amid the controversy? This is everything you need to know about our farewell.
When making a dua, a person raises his hands to his chest and asks Allah for whatever is needed, according to Islamic tradition. This dua could be for anything, including someone’s health, a job, or a soul’s resting place. Such scenes have been seen in films. Before Lata Mangeshkar’s mortal remains, SRK performed the same act. He begged for her soul to rest in peace, like millions of her fans.
SRK wore a black mask over his face while praying with his palms up. He prayed for around 12 seconds before taking off his mask and gently blowing air on Lata Didi’s mortal remains.
A few have claimed that SRK spat while blowing air. Haryana BJP IT cell chairman Arun Yadav also asked the same concern while posting a video on Twitter.
This method of making a dua is extremely typical from a religious standpoint. Parents have asked Maulana or Mufti to make dua for their children in mosques and dargahs. Adults can and do, participate in this activity. A dua is a prayer that can be made for anyone. In Tantrik ceremonies, blowing air is also frequent.
People started pointing out that blowing air after a dua is to ward off evil spirits, accusing the BJP leader of stirring up a controversy out of a solemn occasion on social media.
Maulana Khalid Rasheed is a Muslim cleric. According to Firangi Mahali, blowing air after reciting a dua protects a person from disease or Buri Nazar. Mufti Amzad, another Islamic scholar, claims that the Quran describes blowing air to make someone pain-free.

Gold Chains Worth ₹10.5 Lakh Stolen at Rolling Loud India; Four Attendees File Complaints
A series of thefts marred the two-day Rolling Loud India music festival held in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, after four attendees reported that their gold chains—collectively valued at Rs 10.50 lakh—were stolen amid the massive crowd. The incidents occurred on Sunday evening, between 6 pm and 10 pm, during peak performances when thousands of fans had gathered near the stages.
According to police officials, the victims stated that their chains were forcibly pulled off their necks in the dense crowd without their notice. All four individuals have lodged formal complaints at the Kharghar Police Station, prompting authorities to begin an investigation. Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage, analyzing crowd movement, and checking for known pickpocket groups that typically target large gatherings.
The thefts have raised concerns about the security arrangements at the international festival, which saw heavy footfall throughout the weekend. This is not the first time such incidents have been reported at major concerts in the Mumbai region, with similar cases emerging during previous large-scale events.
Besides the thefts, attendees took to social media to express dissatisfaction over event logistics, particularly the significant distance between the two main stages, which made moving between performances difficult amid the crowd.
The police have assured attendees that efforts are underway to identify the culprits and recover the stolen jewellery. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
