In Navi Mumbai an army soldier was detained in Vashi for illegally possessing a weapon and 10 live rounds after he abandoned his base in Bhopal almost six months ago. The accused, Sonam Hotam Singh (29), also known as Sonu, escaped from his base while seeking to get chosen for the Kabaddi league, for which he was going to try-outs.

At the time, Sonam was a resident of Juhugaon in Vashi. Police are looking into Singh’s reasons for purchasing the firearm.

The weapon is marked “Star Model 81 produced in Mungair,” according to senior police inspector Ramesh Chavan from the Vashi Police Station.

“Only for Army,” is inscribed on the pistol’s barrel. After he escaped, the army designated him as a fugitive, Chavan continued.

The incident was discovered after the Vashi police received a tip on Tuesday at about 3 p.m. that someone was in the area of Magnet Orchestra Bar in Vashi with a gun.

According to the report, the police went straight to the Juhugaon bar and arrested Singh. He was discovered by the authorities to be in possession of a handgun and guns without a licence during a body search.

Potholes & worsening road conditions concern Kharghar residents.

The Issue

Potholes and bad road conditions are becoming a bigger problem for Kharghar in a number of different industries. Locals are complaining about the condition of the roads, claiming that they are getting harder and harder to drive on from Sector 20 to Sector 35.

Due to the prevalence of large, dangerous potholes on many roads that endanger cars, bicycles, and pedestrians, potholes have become a major source of worry.
Due to these road dangers, residents reported regular incidents of car damage and accidents. In addition, everyone finds commuting difficult and uncomfortable due to the uneven terrain.

“These days, I hate traveling through Kharghar. There are potholes everywhere; it seems like you’re driving through a crater on the moon. It’s hazardous in addition to being inconvenient, according to Sector 21 resident. The primary route in Sector 34, 35, which connects Prashant Corner to Village 20-21, is in extremely poor shape. Even though nearby roadways are being fixed, the roads outside Sector 15’s Goodwill Paradise and the intersection close to Swarna Jewellers are still in disrepair.

Congestion at Tawa Junction gets worse by the lack of a traffic signal. The widespread unlawful parking near Neelkanth Sweets and Bank of India in Sector 35 was also brought to the attention of the locals.

Potholes are just one aspect of the bad road conditions. The rainy season makes the issue of many roads’ cracks, uneven surfaces, and insufficient drainage systems worse. Rainfall during the monsoon season often causes waterlogging, which deteriorates roadways even more and puts commuters in danger.
