APMC Spice Market Reveals The FSI Scam

Published

With a loss of Rs. 62 crores, the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) is entangled in a major controversy concerning the misuse of Floor Space Index (FSI) in the spice market. The marketing department has responded by issuing orders for the reimbursement of money and the filing of criminal proceedings against the individuals involved. 466 plot holders are currently being investigated for their possible complicity in the fraud.

The APMC Board of Directors decided to distribute excess FSI to spice market dealers in 2009, which is when the FSI controversy began. Investigations, however, show that merchants were given permission to use this FSI at prices far lower than the going commercial and industrial rates, which resulted in huge losses for the APMC. The decision is currently being questioned due to claims of financial mismanagement and wrongdoing.

The public is outraged by the scam’s disclosure, and the APMC’s supervision and governance procedures are under scrutiny. Mahesh Shinde, the MLA for Koregaon, is among the stakeholders who have demanded that the plundered cash be recovered and that the offenders face harsh penalties. The marketing department’s latest decision represents a big start in the right direction toward justice and responsibility in this case.

Steady monsoon downpours boost primary water reservoir for Navi Mumbai residents.

The Storage

In a major relief for Navi Mumbai residents, water levels at the Morbe Dam the primary drinking water source for the region have reached 75.66% of its total capacity, following consistent monsoon showers across its catchment area in Khalapur.

Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) officials confirmed that the rising water levels significantly reduce concerns over potential water cuts or supply disruptions in the coming months. The steady inflow has ensured a secure drinking water buffer for over 15 lakh residents across the city.

While the current stock is sufficient to meet daily demand well into early next year, civic engineers noted that sustained heavy downpours are still required for the reservoir to hit 100% capacity and overflow. NMMC continues to monitor catchment rainfall closely to optimize seasonal storage reserves.
