Zone II Cyber cell of Navi Mumbai has apprehended a 34-year-old guy who was involved in many forex trading scams and was a member of a cyber gang located in Dubai. The 34-year-old suspect, whose identity is being withheld by the police to prevent alerting the other partners, was a resident of Antop Hill before becoming involved in a cyber ring that operated out of Dubai and defrauded individuals under the guise of trade.

In order to avoid being arrested in India, the accused, a B Com graduate, operated a contact center in Dubai with the help of other guys from Mumbai. While looking into a fraud case that was reported to Khandeshwar police on April 25 by a resident of Khanda Colony, the accused came to the attention of Zone II Cyber police.

An individual posing as Ayan Ansari called the complainant, who was employed for a private company, and proposed that he create a demat account with Ultra Global Market in order to generate profitable returns. The caller made grandiose promises that convinced the complainant, who had first been reluctant to invest, to do so.

The complainant paid the Rs 8,600 membership fee, made the initial investment of Rs 34,000, and uploaded the necessary papers on WhatsApp. The plaintiff received a profit transfer of Rs 1 lakh from the accused. Once the defendants gained the victim’s trust, they forced him to invest a total of Rs 22.54 lakh in many payments between January 1 and April 1.

“We discovered that the gang operated out of Dubai over the course of the case investigation. We had been monitoring the accused, and we learned that he had visited his relatives in Antop Hill, which is how we were able to apprehend him. The accused has admitted that he and a few other guys operated a contact center in Dubai, according to inspector Zone II Cyber Cell Deepali Patil.

The accused person, who arrived from Dubai in June, was apprehended on July 16 and is currently being held in judicial custody. Police said that the primary accused, who oversees the call center in Dubai, is still at large and that two more subordinates are also wanted. In the pretext of trade, the gang has defrauded several individuals around the nation out of millions of rupees. Police have so far taken into custody Rs 9.75 lakh from the defendant.
