On October 30, a cable suspension bridge over the Machhu River in Morbi collapsed, resulting in 133
fatalities and one of Gujarat's worst catastrophes. An "engineering marvel" was used to describe a
suspension bridge built during the British era that is almost a century old.
The Oreva Group received the bridge in exchange for renovation work and 15 years of operation and
maintenance. The Oreva Group and the Morbi Municipality also entered into a contract for the
maintenance and care of the collapsed bridge.
On October 26, the bridge was reopened to celebrate the Gujarati New Year. The cost of admission
for the general public to use the reconstructed bridge was a pitiful Rs 17 per person.
The Oreva website disappears
The company's website crashed as a result of the big catastrophe and is no longer operational. When
attempting to access the website, a caution stating "Bandwith Limit Exceed" can be visible. Due to
the website owner exceeding their allotted bandwidth, the server is momentarily unable to handle
your request. Try again, please. The company's social media channels have also been disabled or
suspended.
On Monday, sources located Ajanta Oreva's office in Ahmedabad and discovered that the building
was empty. The office was supposed to open at 10 a.m., according to the report. however, nobody
has arrived since the morning.
The guards stationed at the entry declined to comment on the matter and said they were unaware
of the reason the employees hadn't arrived at the office. After 133 people died in the disaster, the
Gujarat Police have nabbed 8 people connected to the Oreva Group.

Navi Mumbai Police Arrest African National With Rs 1 Crore Worth Of Cocaine In Ulwe

The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of Navi Mumbai Police arrested Jeorge Ocante DaSilva, a 35-year-old native of Guinea, on Monday for possessing 410 grams of cocaine, allegedly intended for illegal sale. Acting on a tip-off, API Alka Patil of the AHTU led a raid at RM Heights Building in Ulwe, where DaSilva was found in possession of the narcotics.

Around 2:30 p.m. on October 28, officers discovered 410 grams of cocaine, valued at approximately Rs 1,02,50,000, hidden in DaSilva’s bedroom. Authorities also seized a mobile phone, a black Tabata weighing scale, scissors, plastic packaging bags, and a sky bag, bringing the total seizure value to Rs 1,02,55,610.

An FIR was filed at Panvel City Police Station under Sections 8(a) and 21(a) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Dasilva was presented in court and remanded to police custody until October 31, 2024. Investigations are ongoing, with the Crime Branch seeking potential accomplices and sources of the narcotics. Notably, Dasilva has a prior NDPS case registered at Nahar Police Station in Mumbai.
