Russia believes that the Wests delivery of arms to Ukraine will block negotiations

Published

on

Despite the Russian attack, Ukraine tends to depend on Western military support, which Moscow has repeatedly condemned. Despite Russia’s warnings, the United States and its NATO partners have continued to provide military assistance to the beleaguered former Soviet republic. According to Sputnik, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov claimed that the West’s continued delivery of guns and ammunition to Ukraine will obstruct talks between Moscow and Kyiv. He went on to say that arming Ukraine in numerous ways will not help the Russia-Ukraine conversation succeed. Earlier this week, the US Senate passed a bipartisan resolution allowing Vice President Joe Biden to reach out to Ukraine and negotiate a lend-lease agreement. Certain conditions linked to the President’s authority to lend or lease defense articles to Ukraine’s administration are temporarily waived under the measure. When questioned about the Kremlin’s reaction to the Senate’s decision, Peskov said it would most certainly backfire.

‘For a long time, the US and NATO partners had planned to equip Ukraine with weaponry.’

According to Sputnik, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova indicated that the US and its NATO allies had been planning to supply Ukraine with weapons for a long time, in reaction to the US’ lend-lease for Ukraine. According to The Times, Britain is considering sending non-lethal armored vehicles to Ukraine because it feels the Russian army is “exhausted” after the 43rd day of the special military operation.

Amid a battle, Ukraine wants military assistance from the international world.

Meanwhile, Ukraine continues to ask the international community for more armaments. Dmytro Kuleba, Ukraine’s foreign minister, attended a NATO conference in Brussels on Thursday and urged the allies to provide more supplies. NATO as a whole refuses to commit troops to Ukraine or impose any no-fly zones, but individual member countries have helped Ukraine with anti-aircraft and anti-tank weapons, as well as equipment and medical supplies. The more weaponry they collect and the sooner they reach Ukraine, the more human lives will be spared, according to Kuleba.

The war between Russia and Ukraine

On February 24, Russia launched a special operation in Ukraine in response to requests from the country’s separatist republics of Donetsk and Lugansk to safeguard their civilian populations from Kyiv’s military. According to President Putin, the operation aims to demilitarise and “de-Nazify” Ukraine.
