The Indian Premier League (IPL) is the world’s largest T20 league, and all 10 participating teams are now preparing for the IPL 2022 mega auctions. Starting with the current season, the eight original IPL teams will be joined by the new Ahmedabad and Lucknow IPL clubs, making this the first mega player activity of the tournament since 2018. The big auctions, which will be held in Bangalore on December 12 and 13, will include 590 Indian and international cricketers.

The Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans have both selected their player draughts, and all teams have released their list of retained players. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has established several required criteria that all ten IPL clubs must adhere to during the auctions.

A close examination of the BCCI’s list of necessary rules-

  • All team officials of the franchises will be required to return with the COVID-19 negative RT-PCR report on February 9, 10, and 11.
  • The future IPL 2022 mega auctions will be held under tight bio-bubbles.
  • In contrast to the IPL 2018 mega auction, there will be no Right to Match (RTM) option available for franchises in the subsequent auctions.
  • For the IPL 2022 players auction, the wage purse for the teams has been boosted from INR 80 crore to INR 90 crore, allowing the teams to acquire more players. The BCCI is attempting to recruit more youthful talent, with a concentration on the Indian home circuit.
  • Individuals arriving at the team accommodation on February 11 will be thoroughly watched for any signs of Covid-19, according to the Indian cricket governing board.
  • COVID-19 will be tested from 12 a.m. to 7 a.m. to ensure that the auctions run smoothly. The members must remain in their hotel rooms until they receive their negative test results.
  • All auction attendees are expected to provide all of their personal information with BCCI’s medical team, including their COVID vaccination results (If any).
  • The auctioneers are required to wear masks at all times when in the auditorium.
