A New Police Station In Ulwe Has Been Approved By The State Government To Meet The Increasing Demands

State Government approves new police station at Ulwe to address growing needs.

The Station

In order to handle the increasing crime rate and expanding population in the Ulwe area, the state government has authorized the creation of an independent Ulwe Police Station under the Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate. The current jurisdictions of the NRI Sagari, Nhavasheva, and Panvel City police stations will be divided to create the new one. The non-recurring costs needed to establish the new station have been approved for an amount of Rs. 2.12 crores. The State Home Department issued the directive Thursday.

Large communities, big infrastructure developments, and an increase in automobile traffic are all results of the Ulwe area’s substantial urban expansion. With the help of significant projects like Atal Setu, Navi Mumbai International Airport, and the Coastal Road, the population of the area has increased to almost 1.6 million. A new police station is required to effectively administer law enforcement and civic services because the current police stations are under stress due to the rising crime rate.

The present jurisdictional boundaries, which cover NRI Sagari, Nhavasheva, and Panvel City, make it difficult for locals to obtain services like character, passport, and complaint verification. Aware of these challenges, the Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner suggested to the Director General of Police (DGP) that a new Ulwe Police Station be established.

By redrawing the lines between the three current Ulwe Police Stations, the State Home Department authorized the establishment of a fully furnished Ulwe Police Station in response to the proposal. The Office of the Director General of Police has also been instructed by the Home Department to complete the jurisdictional boundaries and submit the information for approval from the government. The approval order also specifies the number of personnel required for the new police station.
