NMMC Takes Action Against 41 Illegal Hotels, Pubs, And Bars

Many unauthorised hotels, pubs & bars were targeted by NMMC in Navi Mumbai.

Targeting unapproved buildings at hotels, bars, pubs, and other places around the city, the encroachment department conducted a thorough operation under the supervision of Dr. Kailas Shinde, Commissioner of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC). The operation, which started late on June 30 and lasted until the early hours of July 1, was to stop marginal areas being misused and illegally extended.

Dr. Rahul Gethe, Deputy Commissioner of the Encroachment Department, spearheaded the action against 41 sites found to have broken building regulations. Deputy Commissioner Dr. Rahul Gethe, Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde, and Additional Commissioner Sunil Pawar personally oversaw the activities and examined the impacted locations.

Action took place at the VIP, Dhum Night, Night Angel, Cabana, Bebo, and Starry Night establishments in the Belapur division. Similar steps were conducted in the Nerul division at locations such as Bharti Bar in Sector 1, Shiravane, Sai Darbar in Sector 02, Nerul, and Ganga Sagar Lodge beside the CNG pump in Sector 13. Hotel Golden Suites and Amber Restaurant & Bar in Vashi Plaza, Sector-17, as well as the Vashi division, were also under observation.

Ghansoli, Koparkhairane, and Airoli were among the other places that were targeted. Unauthorized structures at different hotels, clubs, pubs, and hookah parlour’s were examined and taken down. Enforcement measures were taken against 23 establishments in Belapur, 6 in Nerul, 3 in Vashi, 1 in Koparkhairane, 5 in Ghansoli, and 3 in Airoli as a result of the searches.

As directed by Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde, the project was executed directly under the supervision of Additional Commissioner Mr. Sunil Pawar and Dr. Rahul Gethe. Assistant Commissioner Shashikant Tandel actively engaged in the enforcement campaign, as did Dr. Amol Palve, Mr. Sagar More, Mr. Sunil Kathole, Mr. Sanjay Taide, Mr. Ashok Ahire, and other Encroachment Department officers.

Navi Mumbai Police Arrest African National With Rs 1 Crore Worth Of Cocaine In Ulwe

The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of Navi Mumbai Police arrested Jeorge Ocante DaSilva, a 35-year-old native of Guinea, on Monday for possessing 410 grams of cocaine, allegedly intended for illegal sale. Acting on a tip-off, API Alka Patil of the AHTU led a raid at RM Heights Building in Ulwe, where DaSilva was found in possession of the narcotics.

Around 2:30 p.m. on October 28, officers discovered 410 grams of cocaine, valued at approximately Rs 1,02,50,000, hidden in DaSilva’s bedroom. Authorities also seized a mobile phone, a black Tabata weighing scale, scissors, plastic packaging bags, and a sky bag, bringing the total seizure value to Rs 1,02,55,610.

An FIR was filed at Panvel City Police Station under Sections 8(a) and 21(a) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Dasilva was presented in court and remanded to police custody until October 31, 2024. Investigations are ongoing, with the Crime Branch seeking potential accomplices and sources of the narcotics. Notably, Dasilva has a prior NDPS case registered at Nahar Police Station in Mumbai.
