Chief Minister Eknath Shinde conducted the Bhoomi poojan for the ambitious Kalyan Taloja Metro 12 project, marking a momentous step that aims to reshape the landscape of not only Kalyan and Dombivli but the whole Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).

With an estimated cost of Rs. 5,865 crores, the Kalyan Taloja Metro project was started under the direction of Kalyan Lok Sabha MP Dr. Shrikant Shinde and is set to revolutionize connectivity. As an expansion of the Thane-Bhiwandi-Kalyan metro, this line is being pursued tenaciously by the Kalyan Lok Sabha Constituency. The construction of the line and its stops is set to begin with the announcement of tenders by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).

Between Kalyan and Taloja, Metro 12 will include 19 elevated stations. The MMRDA has allocated Rs. 1,521 crores for the development of these stations. The ground-breaking event marks a quickening of the project’s pace, with completion anticipated in the next 30 months to accommodate thousands of commuters’ demands.

The MMRDA-managed project offers inhabitants of Thane substantial respite, since connection extensions extend to Kalyan-Dombivli and other rural regions. This infrastructure project is in line with current initiatives to improve connectivity in Thane, Navi Mumbai, and surrounding areas.

Notably, the Kalyan Taloja Metro would connect Kalyan-Dombivli with the Taloja area of Navi Mumbai directly by passing through villages in Kalyan taluka. The event was graced by notable dignitaries, including MLAs, municipal commissioners, Thane Collector Ashok Shingare, Thane District Guardian Minister Shambhuraj Desai, and Public Works Minister Ravindra Chavan.

MP Dr. Shrikant Shinde highlighted the metro project’s revolutionary potential, imagining the development of a “third Mumbai” that would arise between Navi Mumbai and Kalyan. Furthermore, the proposed access control road connecting Ulhasnagar, Ambernath, Badlapur, Wangani, Kalyan-Dombivli, and Navi Mumbai represents larger regional infrastructure expansions.
