Chief of NMMC Issues Warning concerning Disciplinary Action Against Officers Who Refuse Transfer Orders

Published

on

A warning was issued by NMMC Commissioner Shree Rajesh Narvekar Against Officers Who Refused Transfer Orders.

The Transfer order

Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) commissioner Shree Rajesh Narvekar is in a difficult situation since certain NMMC staff are refusing transfer orders that have lately been issued. On December 22, the commissioner had issued transfer orders for 150 workers with the goal of maximizing public service and administrative efficiency. A week following the announcement, several park department employees have yet to accept the new postings and have instead persisted in contacting their superior to get the transfers cancelled.

On December 8, 2023, Commissioner Shree Rajesh Narvekar himself verbally halted the original transfer orders, claiming technical concerns. On December 22, the updated transfer orders were then made public, with the exception of a few minor changes that did not include sweepers and clerks. This included a range of jobs, including those of clerks, cleaners, park rangers, branch engineers, junior engineers, and electrical engineers. The instruction specifically said that the officials weren’t allowed to take break, take no new posts right away, and stop influencing department executives or public representatives to reverse the transfer. As specifically mentioned in the order, disciplinary action would follow any breach of these instructions.

Remarkably, even after a week, two superintendents and two park assistants who were moved from Circle 1 and headquarters have not taken up their new positions in spite of these orders. These officials, according to sources, are still trying to convince their superiors to revoke the transfers. Questions have been raised about whether the Municipal Commissioner would take action against the officers who are accused of disobeying his commands.

Shree Rajesh Narvekar, the Municipal Commissioner, has emphasized how crucial it is for all officers and staff members who are moving on December 22 to swiftly vacate their existing roles and take up their new responsibilities. He issued a warning, saying that officers who decline the new positions will receive a proper notice and will face disciplinary action. In reaction to the circumstances, Shree Somnath Potre, Deputy Commissioner Circle 1, Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, is looking into the possibility that these personnel have resigned and turned down the new positions. Shree Somnath Potre is anticipated to provide an extensive study about the subject.
