Santa Clause himself encouraged the people of Navi Mumbai to be cautious of traffic laws on Christmas Eve.

The Innovative Approach

The Turbhe Traffic Police tried something different on Christmas Day: instead of fining drivers who were discovered to be breaking the law, they gave them chocolates as a way to raise awareness of traffic laws. They emphasized the importance of following traffic laws, especially those pertaining to wearing helmets and listening to traffic signals, in order to promote road safety.

On Monday, December 25, Cadbury chocolates were given out by Santa Claus himself, together with Turbhe Traffic Branch officials, to anyone who were found breaking traffic laws. The gesture served as a reminder to drivers to obey road laws in addition to bringing holiday pleasure.

Chief Police Inspector Shree Srikant Dharne, who is in charge of the initiative, emphasized the need for responsible driving and asked offenders to understand and follow traffic laws. Though no fines were levied at the time, a warning was sent out stating that future violations would result in a twice fine.

During a distinct public awareness campaign, Senior Police Inspector Dharne and his subordinate, Amaladar, actively included the community to highlight the significance of road safety and adherence to traffic laws.

“This creative project by the Turbhe Traffic Branch succeeded in building a culture of careful driving and improved understanding of traffic regulations among motorists,” a commuter said. It also served to spread kindness throughout the festive period.

Jayesh Pawar alleges massive financial losses and urges authorities to act against gaming platforms.

The Addiction

The growing popularity of online gaming for quick money is raising concerns in Navi Mumbai, with one resident claiming that he lost around Rs 2.5 crore after becoming trapped in the cycle of online gaming.

Navi Mumbai resident Jayesh Pawar has approached the authorities seeking action, alleging that he suffered huge financial losses through online gaming platforms. He also claimed that he lost around Rs 35 lakh at one stage while trying to recover earlier losses.

According to Pawar, the problem often begins with small bets. Initial wins can create confidence, encouraging players to invest larger amounts. Once losses begin, players may put in even more money in the hope of recovering what they have already lost.

Pawar claimed that he is not the only person facing such difficulties. He said several young people have reportedly lost lakhs and even crores through online gaming. Some, he alleged, borrowed money or sold property to continue playing.

The issue has also raised concerns about the wider impact of gaming addiction, including financial stress and problems within families.
