MLA Manda Mhatre of the Belapur assembly constituency has approved the establishment of a cutting-edge fish market in Sarsole village, using Rs. 77 lakhs from her Local development Fund. This is a major step towards the area’s growth. The ground-breaking ceremony, called “Bhumi Pujan,” was recently concluded by Jaywant Sutar, former mayor of Navi Mumbai.

It was imperative to rebuild the crumbling old building to protect the customers and local fisherman, which led to the decision to construct the fish market. Speaking with MLA Manda Mhatre, the Sarsole locals voiced their worries and emphasized the need for a contemporary fish market that is similar to the one that was successfully built in Diwale village.

The proposed fish market would be housed in a two-story (G+1) building with modern facilities. The goal is to maximize utility and efficiency in the market. MLA Manda Mhatre has also set aside money for a number of community-focused initiatives, such as a solar high mast, a multipurpose facility, a youth gym, a water tank, and other development projects in Sarsole village.

MLA Manda Mhatre has also promised support for the construction of a cold storage facility, which would help fishermen preserve their catch and meet the unique demands of the local fishing community. It is expected that this structure would play a key role in enabling the Sarsole people by bringing opportunities and necessities closer to them.

Notably, 150 fishermen have already received a lump sum payment of Rs. 3.37 lakhs in their bank accounts as a result of MLA Manda Mhatre’s relentless efforts. MLA Manda Mhatre pledged to move quickly to resolve the unfinished business of other fishermen’s unpaid compensation, so that no one in the community is left without what is rightfully theirs. Prominent people who attended the bhumi Pujan event included BJP district president Ramchandra Gharat, as well as former corporators Shubhangi Patil, Shashikala Patil, and Suraj Patil, along with locals.
