Illegal overhead wires near the Cidco headquarters parking lot

Published

on

Many people are concerned about the vast number of automobiles parked below the high-tension wires next to the Cidco headquarters in CBD-Belapur. Activists claim that it is done without the traffic department’s consent and in violation of the law. Even the vice chairman and managing director of Cidco has received their complaints, which include five serious concerns. Even some people have reported getting shocked by electricity when walking below HT lines in the wet season. Shyam Kadam, a social activist from Vashi sector-17, sent a letter on Thursday claiming that despite being sent on research trips abroad, Cidco officials had failed to implement city parking plans.

This is also evident in Cidco’s headquarters, “Cidco Bhavan.” The Cidco Bhavan’s parking lot is now insufficient for its personnel. Between the Sion-Panvel highway and the Cidco Bhavan, there are unlawful open spots where Cidco employees are parking. Some claim that utilising umbrellas in the rain resulted in small electric shocks because of the overhead high-tension wire of the Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company that was laid over the parking space.

Kadam questioned if Cidco had acquired the area beneath the HT wires for parking, which was one of the main problems. Does Cidco have approval for the parking from the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation and the traffic department? Are Cidco authorities ethically justified in lecturing and acting against residents about illegalities if the parking lot is illegal? If someone dies, who will be held accountable? Why should those arriving for work at the Cidco headquarters be refused parking here? The protester also asked that parking be permitted beneath all HT lines around the city.

Others have brought up the problem of playgrounds and gardens built impermissibly below HT wires, such as the one in Kharghar. Priya Ratambe informed the Cidco PRO of the important points posed in the letter and assured them that a response will be sent as soon as possible. But up until publication time, she had not responded.
