The state government has chosen to develop the Navi Mumbai Integrated Industrial Township as the new IT and service sector hub of Maharashtra in addition to supporting educational and research institutions there in order to take advantage of the opportunity of connectivity with the upcoming international airport and Mumbai Trans Harbour Link.

The Navi Mumbai Integrated Industrial Township (NMIIT), formerly the Navi Mumbai Special Economic Zone (NMSEZ), is promoted by the state-owned City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) and Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Group. The Maharashtra government recently issued a government resolution (GR) allowing the service sector on 85% of the land.

It contains, among other things, hospitals, education and knowledge centres, and centres for information technology.

On the site set aside for industrial purposes at NMIIT, the GR dated February 17 authorised the service sector. The 85% land reserved for the industry in NMIIT can be used for services like information technology centres, digital centres, education and knowledge park-university of eminence, and also industry-academic partnership to promote training and skill development programme through skill development centres, research and development centres, training centres, training centres for art, performance, and sports, etc.,” according to the GR.

According to the then-UPA government’s SEZ policy, the land covering 5,350 acres was designated for the creation of a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) during the 2006–2007 academic year. Because the SEZ strategy was unsuccessful for a number of reasons, the state government accepted a plan to transform the NMSEZ into a Navi Mumbai Integrated Industrial Township in accordance with Maharashtra’s 2013 industrial policy later in 2018. Also, it was determined that the ratio between industrial facilities and housing developments should be 85:15.

“Navi Mumbai has an ecosystem for the IT sector and service sector,” stated Bhushan Gagrani, assistant chief secretary (urban development).

After MTHL is finished, the area will be easily accessible from Mumbai and will be connected to both national and international destinations through the forthcoming international airport. Thus, the government has permitted the service sector on the territory of NMIIT in order to foster economic growth and create a hub for next-generation IT and related services, he added.

In a recent public event, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also hinted that Navi Mumbai will be developed as a service sector hub. According to the administration, permitting the service sector to operate on this Industrial Township property will strengthen the state’s economy.

Tourism in Palghar district got a high-altitude boost on Independence Day with the grand unveiling of a spectacular glass skywalk at the famous Dabhosa Waterfall. Inaugurated by Maharashtra Forest Minister and District Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik, the landmark project marks Palghar’s first-ever transparent skywalk, sparking immense excitement among locals and travel enthusiasts.
