Mhatre received 20,683 votes, while Patil received 10,997, according to Shree Mahendra Kalyankar, the divisional commissioner and returning officer, who made the announcement following the vote-counting in Navi Mumbai. There were eight candidates running, but Mhatre and Patil were the front-runners.
