Four people were detained after 90 swords and daggers were discovered in a vehicle in Dhule
Maharashtra has seen the second occurrence of large quantities of guns being recovered in less than a month. This time, authorities in Maharashtra have apprehended 90 swords and daggers in the Dhule area in the state’s northern region. The weapons stockpile was being transferred in a Scorpio from Rajasthan’s Chittorgarh to Maharashtra’s Jalna district. It’s worth noting that the Congress is the state’s ruling party, as well as a partner in Maharashtra’s Maha Vikas Aghadi administration.
Praveen Kumar Patil, the Dhule district SP, verified this. “Police have detained four people after recovering a large number of swords from a vehicle near the Songir village in Dhule,” he added. The car yielded 89 swords and one dagger valued at Rs 7,13,600.” The police have charged all of the defendants with violating provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act. However, it is still unknown why such a large arms consignment was found in Maharashtra, to whom it was supposed to be shipped, and who is behind it. However, the massive amount of weaponry discovered has prompted concerns about the state’s peace and order.
In the case, four suspects have been arrested: Mohammed Sharif Mohammad Shafiq (35), Sheikh Ilyas Sheikh Latif (32), Syed Nai Syed Rahim (29), and Kapil Dabhade (35). All four live in the Jalna neighbourhood. The matter is still being investigated.
It’s worth noting that Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) head Raj Thackeray is set to conduct a public assembly in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, amid the ongoing dispute over azaan and Hanuman Chalisa over loudspeakers. Aurangabad is 42 kilometres from Jalna, the place from where these armaments were being delivered. This has enhanced the likelihood of unfavourable outcomes.
Cops had previously found guns at a private courier company’s godown in the Dighi neighbourhood of Pimpri Chinchwad, Maharashtra. Two wooden cases housed the firearms. There were 92 swords, 2 daggers, and 9 knives found. The parcels were purportedly shipped by Umesh Sood, an Amritsar resident, to Anil Hoon, an Aurangabad resident. Under the IPC and the Arms Act, the police had filed a case against the two.
