Published

on

From another twist in the Hanuman Chalisa saga, a Mumbai leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) posted a video seeking Union Home Minister Amit Shah for permission to organize an all-religion prayer outside the Prime Minister’s house. NCP leader Fahmida Hasan declared that her goal is to evoke thoughts of Jainism and Hinduism in the Prime Minister to eliminate unemployment, and inflation, and prevent the population from starving. Fahmida Hasan’s desire comes amid escalating tensions in Mumbai following the arrest of MP Navneet Rana and MLA Ravi Rana for withdrawing their pledge to recite Hanuman Chalisa in front of Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s house.

Throughout the clip, the NCP representative also repeated the Navkar mantra (a Jain mantra) and added that Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray must accept and respect the emotions of people of all faiths. MP Navneet Rana, she added, should have spoken about how to eliminate inflation and unemployment.

The Ranas were placed in judicial detention for 14 days.

After taking back their pledge to perform Hanuman Chalisa in front of Matoshree, Maharashtra CM’s private house, MP Navneet Rana and her husband, MLA Ravi Rana, were detained by Mumbai police and transported to Mumbai’s Khar police station. Later, the two were charged with sedition and sentenced to 14 days in jail.

. In response to her imprisonment, MP Navneet Rana has written to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, expressing her dissatisfaction with the Mumbai police. The case’s next hearing is slated for April 29.

Meanwhile, while Somaiya was leaving Khar police station in Mumbai on Saturday night to visit the Rana couple, Shiv Sena supporters allegedly hurled stones, boots, and water bottles at his car. The Maharashtra government has been asked to provide a report on the alleged attack on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kirit Somaiya by the Union Home Ministry.

There follows a discussion between a BJP team led by Kirit Somaiya and Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla in Delhi about the Mumbai Khar assault. Somaiya blasted the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maharashtra administration when he arrived in Delhi, claiming that the state was in a “terror-like condition.”

Amid the midst of the dispute, the Shiv Sena claimed that the Rana couple should have chanted Hanuman Chalisa at the Prime Minister’s residence.
