There will be no water scarcity for the residents of Navi Mumbai

Published

In terms of water availability, Navi Mumbai is now in a good condition. The Morbe dam, which is owned by NMMC, has enough water to endure for the next five months. There is unlikely to be a water shortage in the city because the monsoon is expected to fill the dam. The municipal government, on the other hand, has urged residents to utilise water wisely.

Following widespread criticism, the civic government withdrew its idea for once-weekly evening water cut throughout the city in February. The plan was made as a precaution to avoid any problems with water delivery throughout the summer.

“We have enough water stock in Morbe dam to endure until September,” NMMC chief Abhijit Bangar said. This will ensure that no water shortages occur over the summer. The rains will arrive in June, ensuring that the dam will be full soon. We are always working to reduce wastages during the delivery of water to the city by reducing leaks. ” In February, we reassessed our plan for a temporary water cut, but we cancelled it so that people would not be inconvenienced. I want residents to ensure that no water is wasted and that whatever resources are available are used wisely.”

The dam’s current water level is 77 metres, with a water stock of 98.9 million cubic metres, or more than 51% of its overall capacity.

Last year, the dam got 3,748 mm of rain, resulting in the current comfortable situation. The dam had reached capacity and burst due to abundant rain last year. To prevent floods in the area, authorities had to open the flap gates to release surplus water.

The dam provides NMMC with 415MLD of water. The water is sent to 1,27,000 water connections in the NMMC area; 15MLD is utilised for gardens and watering plants on the dividers, while 37MLD is delivered to the Kamothe node and the Morbe dam area.

Toll-Free Drive Confusion Resolved For Commuters As FasTag System Clarifies Deductions For Light Motor Vehicles.

The System

Commuters were first confused as to whether the money would still be withheld after the government declared a complete toll waiver for light motor vehicles at all five Mumbai toll booths one day earlier. Many people received messages from their FasTag accounts, but they saw notifications of their remaining balance rather than alerts about deductions.

Mahesh Shinde, who commutes to Mumbai every day from Kharghar, stated. The FasTag machine wasn’t working when I drove through the Vashi toll at 7 a.m. The barricades were open and the machine was operating when I returned at around 5:00 p.m.

I received the standard SMS when the computer scanned my FasTag. When I checked later, the notification was about the remaining amount and not a deduction, which contradicted my first assumption that the money had been taken out, Shinde stated. The supervisor of the Vashi toll naka attested that every measure had been taken to guarantee that no money was taken out for light cars. He advised anyone who notices a deduction to contact customer service.

The acquirer bank was told to cease charging light motor vehicles, according to Jayant Mhaiskar, chairman and managing director of MEP Infrastructure Developers Ltd.

“We notified the bank to exempt light automobiles when we received the government’s notification on Monday evening. The balance for light cars will be shown without any money being subtracted, however FasTag will still be necessary for big vehicles. We will look into and fix any deductions that take place,” Mhaiskar promised.
