On Monday, the Pimpri Chinchwad Police found 92 swords, two daggers, and nine scabbards from a private courier company’s wooden box storage in Dighi. According to reports, the items were sent to Anil Hon of Aurangabad by Umesh Sood, an Amritsar resident. Under the terms of the IPC and the Arms Act, the police have filed a case against the two.

As per reports, the issue was discovered on April 1 when courier firm personnel scanned shipments using computerized scanners and discovered that swords were being dispatched by courier. The police were notified by the staff. 92 swords, 2 daggers, and 9 scabbards were recovered by a squad of police officers that arrived on the scene. All of the recovered guns are believed to be worth Rs 3.7 lakhs.

The swords were recovered from the Dighi region on April 5, according to the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissioner, and the shipment was meant to be delivered to Aurangabad in Maharashtra. Following a similar occurrence on March 30, the police requested that delivery providers properly inspect the packages.

On March 30, the Aurangabad Police Department seized 37 swords and a dagger from the office of a major courier firm. The police began a probe into the crime after learning that the package containing swords was shipped from Maninder, a Punjab resident, to Akash Patil of Ahmednagar. They were also charged under the relevant provisions of the IPC and the Arms Act by the police.

A guy called Irfan Khan was arrested in Aurangabad in July 2021 after he was found buying 49 swords from an internet store.

Dilip Shinde, Senior Police Inspector of Pimpri-Dighi Chinchwad’s police station, is leading the inquiry in this matter and has instructed the officers of the courier firm within his authority to properly inspect all deliveries. While Umesh Sood and Anil Hon have been charged in this case, the police are still looking into the reasons for the firearms being transported from Punjab to Maharashtra.
