After Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann visited Gujarat many AAP leaders joined the BJP
Over 150 AAP leaders and activists joined the BJP on Monday, in a big blow for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which is attempting to establish itself as a viable alternative to the BJP in Gujarat. Not only AAP, but even Congress has suffered as a result of the upheaval, with some Congress members defecting to the BJP.
After AAP president Kejriwal returned to Delhi after he visited Gujarat, a major exodus from the party occurred in less than 48 hours.
This comes only one day after AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann returned from a two-day tour of Gujarat. In welcoming the AAP members to the BJP, Gujarat BJP general secretary Pradeepsinh Vaghela claimed Arvind Kejriwal could not fool the Gujarati people. “After returning home, the Delhi and Punjab chief ministers had not yet sat down for dinner, and many members of their respective parties had joined the BJP.” “The Gujarati people’s blessings are on the BJP,” he stated.
He further stated that new BJP members are critical to the state’s development and that they should have faith in the party. “You quit the AAP and the Congress today.” They’ll claim you were a waste of time. However, I’d want to express my gratitude for your contributions to Gujarat’s progress and welcome you to the BJP. People have faith in us and in PM Narendra Modi’s leadership, which is why there has been a BJP government in Gujarat for a long time,” he said.
Following the party’s big victory in Punjab, AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal has moved his emphasis to Gujarat, which will vote later this year. On April 2, Kejriwal visited the Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad and took part in the Tiranga Yatra, a roadshow organized by the AAP. He also spoke at the roadshow, claiming that the BJP has been in power in Gujarat for 25 years but has been unable to eradicate corruption.
“I’m not here to criticize any political party.” I’m not here to help the BJP win. I’m not here to depose Congress. I’ve come to ensure that Gujarat triumphs. Gujarat and Gujaratis must be triumphant. “In Gujarat, we must put an end to corruption,” he remarked.
He further said that the BJP had grown arrogant after 25 years in power in the state and that the party had promised not to listen to the people any longer. “They are no longer listening to the people.” Give Aam Aadmi Party a chance, just as the people of Punjab and Delhi did. Give Aam Aadmi Party a chance; if you don’t like us, vote for someone else the next time. If you give the Aam Aadmi Party a chance, you will forget about all the other parties,” he stated.
According to sources, AAP Gujarat joint secretary Satish Makwana, former Vadodara assembly seat candidate Jayshriben Gohil, Niranjan Joshi, Pritesh Patel, and others joined the BJP on Monday. Harivandan Patel, Bhikhabhai Tailor, and Pravinbhai Patel, all former Congress members, have also joined the BJP. In December 2022, 182 members of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly will be elected.
